Kairos Strong offers exercise training in Redbud outside Pittsboro, NC. We started talking about having a hoop event around the turn of the year. The indoor workout space is small, so we decided to wait for warm weather when we could hoop on the lawn.
The 2015 Goldston Old Fashion Day opened to light rain that was supposed to stop, but didn’t.
When the rain let up, the big hoops got a workout on the lawn in front of the pump-and-jump inflatables.
A budding civil engineer helps drain the pond that spread in the tent.
John the balloon man stayed busy keeping the swordfighters stocked with fresh weapons.
Even thought it was wet, we had fun and look forward to next year’s event!
Beak Week is Goldsboro’s BBQ contest and poultry festival.
Angular Momentum Hooping carried hoops to the Saturday festival on Center Street.
Two stages, three bands, sponsor activities, and lots of fun on an overcast day that kept the temperature comfortable. A Drummer’s World drum line performed between bands.
We left before the trophies were awarded.
Hope to be back next year!
We took the hoops to the Mt. Olive Back-to-School Community picnic at Westbrook Park on August 22, 2015. We had a ball!
Westbrook is a very nice little park, right across the street from the Piggly Wiggly. They had lots of fun things for children of all ages, in addition to hooping, and food. Sorry I missed getting a picture of the drum line performance team; battery died.
John the Balloon Man and Karen the Hoop Lady were happy to be at Croakerfest 2015, in beautiful Oriental, NC. It’s always the first Saturday in July, and so far, it’s always a beautiful day.
There’s lots of fun for everyone, from bouncy houses to karaoke and spin art. We don’t get the chance to walk around much and take more pictures, but we can usually grab a minute for one of the Boy Scouts’ delicious hot dogs!
John kept a 45 minute balloon line entertained.
Karen the Hula Hoop Lady John the Balloon Man were back at Clydefest 2015 in Bynum Ball Park, celebrating the life and work of Clyde Jones, again this year! It was a beautiful day and everyone had a wonderful time.
Thanks so much to the event sponsor Chatham Arts, who host and organize this event every year!
Here are some of our pictures.
Setting up and walking around before anyone arrived
We don’t get much chance to stop and take pictures during the actual event, so this is one picture of the entire ballpark as the crowd started to arrive when the gates opened at 11 am.

It rained an inch on Friday before the festival, and the ball diamond was still pretty wet. The organizers moved the hoop area to the grass that would be right field under different circumstances. It was a great location.
Love the new streamers for the hoop tent!
After the Show
Ever wonder what it looks like after you go home?
Hope to see you all next year!
